Building Typology Research Questions

Which building typology you are researching ?

Community Center

Why are you researching this building typology ?

I believe that Architects have the ability to make dreams come true and also the ability to give back. A Community Center is a perfect example of a project that includes both, a dream because by the creation of this building a community that is in need of it sees it as a dream come true, and giving back because we are the most happiest when we see the smile of a little kid and that satisfaction of having a place where he could go play, have fun and be safe.

What is the specialty of this building type you would like to research i.e. museum for dance, school for digital media.....

The specialty of this building type is to serve as a place where people of the community could go to and have a serviceable atmosphere where they could interact with different activities and uses, such as playing bingo, playing ping-pong or just having the need to use the computer for a final project.

What are the examples that you will be researching.. list the examples (10 examples)

Charles Hostler Center VJAA
Community Center in Zimmern Ecker Architekten
Community Centre Herstedlund
SOS Childrens Villages Lavezzorio Community Cente
Sports and Leisure Center
KIGA Alleswirdgut Architektur
Leon de Grief Library Park
Newlands Community Centre
Sjakket Youth Club Plot
Vladimir Kaspe Cultural Center

What are your goals for working with this building type?

My goals for working with this building type is to have a more broad understanding in how a space is spatially organized to serve different activities and uses without interfering with each other. Also to see how every building has an effect in their community.

What are the program elements that you see included at this point in your building? (may evolve once more research is done)

The program elements that i see included at this point is activities and uses where you could have a interaction of 2-4 or 2-8 even 2-20 people in a room.
